This project is dedicated to the sacred city of Safed situated in the mountains of northern Galilee. While photographing its streets, walls, inhabitants, and surroundings for the last fifteen years, I can't refrain from perceiving it as one living and aging organism, a hundreds-year-old person with a philosophical mentality. I observe its character, its habits, its aging, and its wounds and scars as a part of an ongoing process. I feel as if I'm witnessing just several random, short moments in a long and mysterious life.
The project was exhibited as a part of FotoFest 2014 Biennial in Houston; it was also shown in my solo exhibitions in Tel-Aviv (2011) and in Bratislava (2013).
All works are available to acquire as
limited edition prints.
